Meet Our Teachers
Mrs. Witham
Mrs. Witham has worked with preschool-age children since 1998; teaching AWANA and VBS as well as cooperative preschool classes. In addition, she regularly attends continuing education classes through Bates Technical college. All four of Mrs. Witham's children attended Sumner Cooperative Preschool and she was able to continue to be part of the preschool by becoming one of our amazing teachers.
Mrs. Witham's classes will explore art and music, discover science, begin mastering fine motor skills for handwriting, and be introduced to reading and math skills through age-appropriate activities and lessons. Her lesson plans are designed to build listening and focusing skills for learning as well as developing social and emotional skills for self-regulation, preparing your child to be successful in Kindergarten and beyond.
"I love working with young children and their families during a time in their lives so full of learning, growth and development, and I always look forward to a new year of discoveries." ---Mrs. Witham
Miss Kelly
Miss Kelly joined the SCP family as the 3's/Juniors class teacher in 2018. She enjoys working with kids and their families to provide an excellent preschool program with an emphasis on learning the social, emotional, physical and academic skills needed for Pre-k in a fun and developmentally appropriate environment.
Miss Kelly taught second grade for five years before having her own children. She has participated in the cooperative preschool community for six years with her two sons by serving on the board as Vice President, substitute teaching, and assisting with fundraising. She continues her professional development on early childhood education through Bates Technical College.
Miss Kelly's classes include music, art, calendar, weather, circle time, reading time, academics such as shapes, colors, letters and numbers and offer a multitude of opportunities to explore and learn about the world around us through play.
